Internal Fire Pilates is a boutique Classically equipped Pilates studio in San Rafael seeking a highly experienced teacher who truly loves the craft of teaching. We specialize in private lessons and small group classes (maximum 5 students), allowing our teachers to work deeply and thoughtfully with each client.

This is a W-2 employee position, not an independent contractor role. We believe great teachers deserve stability, support, and a professional environment where they can do their best work.

 About the Role

Our teachers work with a wide range of clients—from beginners discovering Pilates for the first time to experienced practitioners refining the work. Many of our clients are also navigating injuries, chronic pain, and movement limitations, so thoughtful teaching and strong anatomical understanding are essential.

Because our classes are intentionally small, our teachers have the time and space to teach Pilates the way it was intended: layered, precise, and individualized.  You should feel equally comfortable teaching private lessons and small group classes, adapting exercises appropriately, and meeting clients where they are while guiding them toward deeper strength, skill, and body awareness.

 What You’ll Do

• Teach private lesson, duets and small group classes (up to 5 students)
• Have a long-term plan for clients and know how to layer the Pilates system, including Pre-Pilates progressions
• Develop clients’ movement skills, strength, and coordination
• Utilize the circular system of reinforcing movement skills on all apparatus including; Mat, Reformer, Tower/Cadillac, Wunda Chair, High Chair, Pedi-Pole, Ladder Barrel, Spine Correctors, Arm Chair and periphery apparatus including Foot Corrector, Toe Gizmo, Neck Stretcher, Airplane Board, Sandbag and Dowel, Magic Circle and Arm Weights.  (If some of these were outside your training, willingness to learn is crucial)
• Work confidently with common pathologies and chronic pain conditions
• Provide exceptional client care and customer service
• Build long-term relationships that support client success and retention

The ideal candidate is experienced, curious, and deeply committed to the art and science of Pilates as well as their continued learning through practice and study.

We would love it if you are someone who:

• Has 10+ years of Pilates teaching experience
• Is well-versed in the full Classical Pilates system (or willing to commit to learning)
• Understands how to teach progressions and movement development, not just exercises
• Is comfortable working with diverse populations and physical conditions
• Is an anatomy super geek
• Is a passionate seeker of knowledge and continuing education
• Brings compassion, professionalism, and warmth to every client interaction
• Is engaging, attentive, and masterful at customer service

That said, there is room for immense growth and learning if you have not been Classically trained.
